I have a large/long house (footprint ~ 34'-110') with two levels. In the 22 years since its construction, the ~60%-bermed basement RH has increased slightly every summer but I have experienced no issues with liquid water. I have always been able to use the relatively-stable Cool of the basement to help reduce the summer warmth upstairs by placing a box fan in the doorway of the south stairwell and keeping the door on the north stairwell open.
A few weeks ago the sensor located in the basement told me that 70%RH had been reached and the upstairs was at ~60%. So, after reading the reviews on this and several other units, I bought one of these units. I received it 3 days ago and set it up immediately.
Configured for Continuous Mode (so far), after bedtime the Dehumidifier fad704tdp runs in the basement, alone, (with all of the interior basement doors open) and during the day I resume the box fan airflow that I described with the DH still running in the air stream.
I just checked ... the basement RH is currently at 57% and the upstairs, 53%.
I realize that fad704tdp part of this reduction in RH is related to the little bit of heat added to the environment by the DH, but every 6½-7hours the "bucket" fills and cuts off the system, I empty & replace it and off it goes again. This DH *really* sucks ... the moisture out of the air!
I have experienced no issues with "bucket" removal/replacement ... it easily pops out and back in for me. The sound that the unit makes is about what I expected for a unit such as this pushing a steady stream of air thru its innards. Actually, I am surprised that it is NOT loud. I would have no trouble sleeping in a room with this DH running ... it is only white noise, after all.
I really like this frigidaire dehumidifier fad704tdp!
