Watts Premier RO-Pure 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis System Review

I replaced an older GE GXRM10GBL Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration System purchased at Amazon with this Watts unit. Where this system wins out is the ease of maintenance. It's very easy to pop any of the filter cartridges in and out. GE system was harder to maintain and some of the parts broke during maintenance. The main issue was that whenever I need to sanitize the system or replace RO cartridge, I had to open the plastic cap to the RO cartridge holder, which is made out of fairly light plastic. Every 1-2 years, after opening a couple of times, the plastic cab would break when I screw it back on. The replacement part for the RO cartridge holder is $150, which is the same price as buying a new unit.

Here is my comparison, as of Jan 2011. Watts is a clear winner in my mind. Just a lot less hassle to maintain and probably cheaper in the long run. I'll probably update the post after a year or so to see if Watts still holds up well.

---------------------------------------------

OS Membrane Cost - Slight advantage GE. We replace this every 2-3 years. It's $50 for GE replacement cartridge from amazon.com (FX12M) and $52 for Watts from amazon.com

Carbon filter Cost - Advantage Watts. Watt's it's only $34.95 for 1 year replacement set that replace pre-filters every 6 months and post filter every 12 months. For GE it's $75 a year ($37 for a pre/post cartridge pair (FX12P) from amazon 2 pair a year). which replace post pre/post every 6 months. In my opinion, post filter only need replacing every 12 months

Noise - Advantage Watts. Both make sound when ro process take place, but Watts is quieter. With GE, I can really hear it in the middle of night.

Water quality - Same. My family can't taste the difference. Both specs seem to remove about same amount of all the contaminants.

Initial Install - Slight advantage Watts. The system is more well designed and it's a bit easier to install although the GE one was not bad

Replacing pre/post filter - Advantage Watts. Watts takes me 10 seconds. GE takes me 10 minutes and water can get spilled easily.

Replacing RO membrane - Advantage Watts. Watts takes me 5 seconds, GE takes me 20 minutes if everything goes well. I also have to have 2 very large clamps to open up the RO cartridge holder.

Sanitize system - Advantage Watts. Watt is a lot easier to sanitize, takes 5 minutes to put in the bleach, and 4 hours flush afterwards, which can be unattended. GE require us to remove pre/post/RO membrane, and sanitize, and then put everything back. It's something that takes me about an hour, with 4 hours flush time in between. And water gets spilled easily.

Durability - Advantage Watts. I haven't had Watts for long, but I can tell by how simple it is to swap the cartridges that it won't break easily. We simply don't have to take anything apart during maintenance where as GE requires you to do more mechanical things. Parts of GE breaks system after a couple sanitization or replacing RO membrane. Buy parts is a big pain since local stores don't sell it and have to call GE to older. Some parts are very expensive.

What Others Are Saying ?

This Osmosis System has received rave reviews from most consumers on the net with an average of 4.5 out of 5 from most reviewers on Amazon and the Watts Premiere website itself.

Here are some of the comments to date:

  • Don't try to be smart!

I only installed (properly) this unit for a few days. It seems to work well. That is not the point of my review. I purchased and installed my first unit a few weeks ago. The waste water gushed down to the drain instead of tricking for few hours after each use (e.g., filling up a glass of filtered water). I thought the shut-off valve is bad so I got a replace unit. The second unit behaved the same way. At that point, I thought it is just a poor design -- a very wasteful design. As I was reading the review of other similar filters (I was ready to return my 2nd unit and buy a different model), I saw someone wrote something about there is section of tubing that has a insert in it. That immediately reminded me that I removed a section of tubing (a short red one on the waste line) that appeared to be redundant. Fortunately, I still have that piece of tubing. There it is! a small plastic insert on one end of the tubing. Apparently, this insert is to crease a back pressure so that the shut off valve can function correctly. After I put this section of tubing back in, it no longer continuously discharges water to the drain. I feel bad about returning that first unit. They probably should have include a line in the instruction to warn smart people like me.

  • Amazing Difference

Our municipal water is horrible. It smells like a swimming pool and is very hard.
I purchased this unit from Costco not Amazon. When I pulled it out of the box I started to think that it was going to be complicated to install. The well written directions made it easy to install the unit. All of the connections except for the water supply are quick connect which are secure and easy to make.
After the unit was installed and I opened up the water supply I could hear the water gurgling and the waste of the RO running down the drain. The directions call for draining the first tank of water which I did. The second tank that we sampled was the best water I've ever had from home. It is far better than a Britta pitcher. It has a crisp, clean taste without any chlorine smell.
I let my kids sample the difference by trying 2 cups, one from the faucet, one from the filter. My 9 year old son didn't even need to drink to tell the difference. Once he took a taste of the unfiltered tap water, he pushed it away and said it was horrible. He hung on to the filtered water.
Now we can refill reusable bottles and I don't have to haul cases of bottled water home. It is better for the environment and much cheaper. We are drinking more water rather than soda because it tastes good and is easy to get to.
Another added benefit is that I put a tee in the connection as the instruction described and routed the water to my Samsung Fridge. The Samsung water filters cost about $40 plus shipping from Amazon. Now I can stop buying these filters every six months. The quality of the water from the Watts filter is much better than the Samsung filter.
The only negative part of the install is that the storage tank takes up a fair space under the sink. The directions say that you can put the filter/storage up to 25 feet away with 1/4 inch line or further with a 3/8's line. In reality the space under the sink was taken up with a bunch of junk that we never used and having good water at the sink is a much better use of the space.
UPDATE 4-10: Someone contacted me through my Samsung fridge filter review and pointed out to me that Reverse Osmosis can waste a high ratio (1:3) to (1:5) of water make its final product. You can hear the water running down the drain after you use the faucet. The sound bothers my wife so I put the drain plug in as a mute. I am considering running a line to my drip sprinkler system.

Any complaints?

I've had this unit for 2+ years and the water quality is poor. First glass of water each time I get a glass smells like bacteria, after that it seems to be OK. Not sure what the problem is, I called Watts about 5 times now, they sent a new water storage tank and faucet, I used clorox to clean out the system like they requested and I still have the problem. The RO membrane is still good and the water tests really well.

Where Can You Buy the Watts Premier RO-Pure 4-Stage Reverse Osmosis System?

I purchased from Amazon. As of Feb 2011, Amazon is currently selling it for $399.99 with $170 MFG rebate, so the unit can be purchased at $229.99 with free shipping.

An immensely enjoyable Marvel entry Watch Thor 2011 Online Free

I watched this last night at a preview screening in London.

I prayed that Kenneth Branagh would learn from his mistakes with handling a big budget movie, namely his Frankeinstein. Thankfully, I am glad to say he learnt a great deal from those mistakes. Of course, this is no Henry V, this is just pure popcorn entertainment but a thoroughly enjoyable introduction to Thor for the big screen. Chris Hemsworth played the part with a lot of energy, charisma and I have to admit from a bloke's point of view, annoying good looks. Anthony Hopkins added much needed heavyweight presence as Odin but its a role he has quite frankly played a gazillion times but I never tire of it, so I'm not complaining. In a year long span of brilliantly playing vastly different roles from psychotic to swashbuckling heroine, Natalie Portman this time plays the sweet determined scientist girl who falls for the strangely mannered good looking guy. Nothing too taxing for any of them but they do give a re-assuring aura about them.

The visuals were quite spectacular, mainly, the sweeping canvas of Asgard. The action scenes were also good though I thought could have been executed better with lesser use of the fast cut edit style that is too often the norm in action film these days.

There is plenty of humour when Thor 2011 Full Movie  is on Earth but not in a put-off way as there is a suitable contrast of a serious tone with everything set in Asgard. Even though the storyline was somewhat predictable, it was still a riveting one.

For those like me, who were concerned about how Thor fits into the established Marvel connected universe set by the Iron Man films need not worry. That is just another thing that Branagh and crew pulls off very well. We can now fully embrace the forthcoming Avengers where a God, a man who transforms into a giant green beast, and a man who flies in a hi tech amour suit can share the same screen. So its all coming together nicely.
And make sure you stay for the end credit scenes. In case you did not know of this before, I urge you to go back to the previous films (Iron Man 1 & 2, Incredible Hulk) and watch the end of credit sequences if you haven't already. They tell a separate story strand that will culminate to a certain upcoming Marvel movie. The end credit sequence of Thor is the most fascinating yet as it actually takes a major plot development in the story strand ;) And it was the longest bloody end of credit sequence I've ever seen in any movie! One last thing, the film I saw was in 3d and once again, it practically nearly ruined all the action scenes for me. In the non action scenes, it was pretty useless and just simply made the film much darker.

Frigidaire FAD704TDP Dehumidifier: Should You Get One?

A Frigidaire FAD704TDP is used to take away supernumerary wet from the strain by making a motion the melodic phrase over a surface that is cooler than the temperature of the wet. The wet is condensed in this appendage similar to how moisture condenses in a glass. A FAD704TDP is an splendid solution for those who endure from asthma attack or allergic reactions.

If you live in a abode that is overly damp, it can place serious wellness perils because the wet can head to mouldering, cast development, and the ontogeny of microorganisms. Dust mites breed in dwellings with high degrees of humidness. Your rhinal passages can go riled. Those who already have other wellness statuses will experience the consequences worse.
On average, you desire your abode to have 50 % or less humidness. Some peoples ask more or less to be easy. If you determine condensate in your home on the windows or experience respiratory outcomes regard bringing down the wet degree to 30 % and reckon if you get any relief. You can apply a gravimeter to quantify the measure of humidness in your rest home.

There are many types of frigidaire dehumidifier to choose from. The more wet you have in your dwelling the larger size you will need. Some dwelling houses postulate more than one to handle with the wet in effect. Look for aces that have a two velocity buff as they are quieter and more vigor effective. Some dehumidifiers have to be posed by a waste pipe for the wet to be unfrozen. Others have a bathing tub that you manually empty. They both get the line of work done thus that is a personal preference.
It is of import that you hold your dehumidifier clean or it will not work by rights for you. The filters necessitate to be cleaned at least every two weeks. Each steel of dehumidifier will come with specific picking directions that you require to stick to.

Ooma Telo Review Free Home Phone Service

I recently converted from Vonage to Ooma Telo because Vonage was costing me $33/month after taxes and everything. When you add that to the cost of naked DSL from AT&T ($42.95), it was actually a worse deal than AT&T's phone + internet bundle which is only $59.95. I was attracted to Ooma because I thought it would be an easy switch over from Vonage, and I want to save money. Here are some notes I recorded during the process:

Notes:
-Vonage is costing me more than AT&T because naked DSL is $42.95/mo and Vonage is $24.99/mo = $67.94 + taxes. AT&T bundle is $59.95/mo + taxes for DSL + unlimited local and long distance.
-Ooma cost is $187 + $120 for Premier w/phone port = $307. Vonage is costing me $33/month = $396/year. 3 years of Vonage is $1188. 3 years of Ooma with Premier = $571.
-My Speedtest data is 43ms ping, 5.66Mb/s down, .43mb/s up
-Phone number transfer request from Vonage account submitted on 2/1, completed on 2/16...exact day they said it would. Done perfectly! Vonage automatically closed my account, didn't even have to call them.

Pros:
-Call quality is perfect..not so much as a crackle.
-Telo unit has adjustable backlit buttons...nice to be able to turn it down a notch.
-Turning on call forwarding worked within 2 minutes.
-Fast service on technical support calls. Immediately on 2 of them, 1 minute on third call.
-Telo functionally is really cool device with ability to check vmail on speaker, send calls to vmail. Also very cool looking.
-Everything is clearly marked on Telo, instructions are easy to follow
-Faxing works great with *99 prefix
-No contract, walk away after a month if you so desire, although it wouldn't be very cost effective..
-I have Telo installed behind my Linksys WRT54G router with QOS giving higest priority to the Telo MAC address, and ran Mozy backup on another PC, and call quality was almost perfect.
-[...] has a lot of cool features including the ability to create your own blacklist so telemarketers or other annoying people can't get through. It will either send it to your voicemail, or give them a number out of order message. Pretty cool!
Cons:
-Setup may be easy, may not. 15 minute setup is not entirely true...you will likely have at least a 20-30 minute firnware download/update. Make sure the firewall on your router is turned off before you plug it in to your router. (or enable required ports)
-Telo device does not have a built in led display like the Vonage V-Portal adapter.
-Telo device takes quite awhile to recognize an internet outage. In fact, if I unplug my router and then pick up the phone I actually get dial tone, but the call doesn't go through obviously. This leads me to believe the Telo gives the dial tone unless it realizes there is no internet connection.
-Telo device is large compared with the Vonage V-Portal. It has a lot of additional features that the V-Portal doesn't though. Just make sure you allow for its 5x7" footprint.
-Takes 1 minute to recognize network outage (Vonage 3 sec), 25 seconds to recognize it's back, and log back in.
-No ability to turn off voice mail, only set to max of 59 second answer.
-Very easy for power cable to fall out of the back. Recommend taping it to the back of the Ooma.
-My caller ID when I do an outbound call shows up as Ooma Inc. or Private Caller, instead of my name. (this was before my number port)
-Telo device causes interference to any speakers within a couple of feet. (by interference I mean a humming noise)
So far we have used our Ooma Telo Review to the tune of 220 incoming/outgoing calls, and a total of 839 minutes, and it has been perfect. No static. No dropped called. Flawless. So I obviously recommend the Ooma Telo Phone Service.
3/30/10 UPDATE: 588 incoming/outgoing calls, total of 2830 minutes (47 hours) and everything is still great. Still not a single dropped call that I can remember. My wife really likes having the voicemails emailed to her account so she can check them when she checks email messages. Still Highly Recommend!
8/18/10 UPDATE: Very ugly high profile outage for the Eastern US on 8/17 has me concerned. Little communication from Ooma during the event. Ooma lacks the redundant, highly available backend to sustain carrier outages without losing service. Not able to forward calls to cell phone even during network outage. Downgrading from 5 stars to 3 stars due to this event.
1/20/10 UPDATE: Quality and availability since the outage last August has been flawless. Coming up on my 1 year mark with Ooma, and all-in-all it has been great. Upgrading to 4 stars.

Insidious 2011 Free Movie

Insidious 2011 Full Movie

I went into this movie confident that it would be a cheesy, campy romp with the same "tried and true tricks of the trade," like when the hero is investigating the creepy music coming from the basement and a cat jumps into frame, but I quickly discovered that this would not be case with Insidious. After watching the move and obsessing on it for about 12 hours now, I can honestly say it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen. In fact, there were several points during the film where I screamed like a 13-year old girl at a Justin Beiber concert. Keep in mind I was consciously trying my hardest to keep my composure, mainly because I was sitting beside my new girlfriend of 2 months. She, incidentally, didn't make a peep; thankfully, I later found out she had her eyes closed the whole time.
I was also expecting to see some blood and guts, especially coming from the guys who made Saw, but there wasn't a drop. Instead, they used just about everything else in their arsenal to scare the bejesus out of me and everyone else in the theater (my girlfriend included). From literally the opening credits, they created an intense, haunting tension that didn't leave my body till several whiskeys and half a Xanax later. And the movie constantly feeds that tension, making even the characters' mundane family life somehow seem utterly terrifying. I was actually exhausted leaving the theater from all of the uncomfortable squirming I was unable to control. I'd say it's the most calories I've ever burned while watching a movie (well, at least a PG-13 movie).
Overall, the movie was great. It was crazy scary, thoroughly entertaining, and even surprisingly funny at times. Having said that, it will be quite some time before I watch another horror movie; I have no desire to be turned into a frazzled bundle of nerves again anytime soon. So, if you plan on seeing this movie, please consider this a cautionary reminder: it's probably best to go with someone who's already witnessed you have a complete physical and mental breakdown, so as to avoid an embarrassing drive home. And maybe bring a Xanax as well.

Rio 2011 Free Movie

Rio 2011 Full Movie

Not many animations like Rio come around these days. When i first saw the trailer and the team behind this very anticipated animation, the Ice Age team, i knew it will be very enjoyable and fun to watch.Seeing a TV spot right now, i remember that it was all those things, but much more as well. The quality of the animation was unique-only two or three movies can still compete with this and those are Tangled, Up and How to Train Your Dragon. But still, there was so much going on in Rio, the birds, the colors, the non-stopping stream of movement, lights, music and songs, around the carnival in Rio or in the opening and closing scenes with the singing and dancing of the birds in the forests around the city.So much was going on and with such quality, that no animation has matched. And those epic proportions of the animation are its strongest qualities.Something one can't see every day.
The character development was very good, beginning with a little background of the macaw bird Blu's life, with his owner Linda in Minnesota.Maybe, the other macaw, Jewel, was a little underdeveloped as a character, but with positive reviews coming, there might be a sequel coming on the way as well. Then, Jewel's background might be better developed.
With an animation of such proportions, some box office power along with a few Oscar noms will surely be along the way and the fact that it takes place in Rio alone, will act as an audience magnet, given that Rio's one of the most popular and non-stopping cities in the world. This magical feeling stays all along the movie. You just can't forget you're in Rio.
Rio is as well another example of an animation, worth the time and money of both young and grown-ups.That's what catches the eye.20-th Century Fox has made a great animation and with the possible box-office power of the movie, a sequel might as well be on the works.
So, a great animation, very epic and visually stunning, Rio will keep everyone mesmerized and captivated long after the end, and personally for me is one of the best, if not the bast animation i've seen.
I definitely hope for a sequel and i'll definitely see it again, at the movies.
10/10 for this stunning, colorful, heartwarming and breathtaking experience, named Rio!
P.S.The one thing i thought was missing, was Bellini's Samba De Janeiro- this song can make the mood of every crowd in the world :)

Source Code 2011 Free Movie

Source Code 2011 Full Movie

When i saw this at a preview screening, i was not surprised to find another great film from one of the best sci-fi directors of our time; Duncan Jones, who brought us the instant classic, Moon. Source Code is in part an original movie but bears brief resemblance to Tony Scott's Action/Thriller Deja Vu. Source Code centers itself around Colter Stevens, an AFO soldier who wakes upon a train, not knowing how he got there or why and how people are addressing him as someone else, and soon enough the train explodes, supposedly killing everyone. But Stevens awakes to find himself in a kind of "machine" called the Source Code.
The whole story is fantastic, with a man (Stevens) having to go back in time and trying to find out who is behind the bombing. With even more praise is the directing, script, and the choice of actors for the roles. Jake Gyllenhaal was perfect in the role of Stevens as Jeffery Wright was for his role as Dr. Rutledge. Overall, this is a thriller that is not to be missed. But for those who have seen this as well, i agree that if the ending was different and more powerful, the movie would be an INSTANT science fiction classic, but it falls just short of that. Still one that will be remembered for all time, in my opinion.

Good and Cheap Cordless Drill ?

One of the first things you need to consider is the drill’s power supply. Corded drills never have to be recharged and are often more powerful than their cordless counterparts. But then there’s the cord — it gets in the way and restricts use to jobs near an electrical outlet. Cordless models can be taken almost anywhere but can’t run forever. For this reason, it’s a good idea to purchase an extra battery so one can charge while the other is in use. Battery voltage ranges from 9.6 to 18; higher voltage commands more torque, but 18- to 24-volt models are typically powerful enough for everyday use. High voltage, along with high amp-hour (Ah) ratings, guarantee longer battery life.

But how does the drill actually perform? We’ve already mentioned a number of features that’ll make your home improvement experience more productive and enjoyable. First is the variable speed trigger which allows greater control over the speed of the bit. An adjustable clutch is also important, particularly for driving screws. A drill operating with too much torque has broken many a screw head. It’s also important to choose a drill that’s right for the tasks for which you plan to use it. One way to determine this is by chuck size, or the size of bit that the chuck can accept. Common sizes are 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch (metric chucks are 6, 8, 10, or 13 mm); the higher the diameter, the higher the torque. For most household tasks, the 3/8 inch (10 mm) chuck diameter provides plenty of torque, but if you plan to drill into more dense materials like metal or concrete, you might consider something a little larger. Finally, you’ll have to decide if you want a drill with the impact feature. While this doesn’t provide any advantage for drilling holes in wood, it makes screwdriving easier and is necessary for drilling in concrete or masonry.

Another criterion that often gets overlooked is the feel of the drill. When choosing one, pick it up and see how it handles. Is it too heavy? Does it feel balanced in your hand? Is the speed setting easy to adjust with your thumb and index finger?

The reasons that made me buy the DEWALT DC720KA cordless drill review are:
1.I am an air conditioning technician and during air conditioner installing
i drive large screws in walls. The 80Nm of torgue that the dc720ka gives makes this job very easy.
2.During my work i don’t use it all the time.So the two 1,3 Ah batteries are more than enough bacause there is always plenty of time to charge one while using the other. It’s better to have two 1,3Ah batteries than one 2,6 Ah battery.
3.It had a very low price while being a trully profesional power tool.

The first thing to clear up is - What is OBDII? It stand for on board nosologies and the 2 is for fomites that are 1996 or newer. The two passing blades that literally master this family are Actron and Genus Equus 3130 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner. AutoXray is another top merchandising manufacturing business of these symptomatic tools, but their productions don't rate as extremely as the other two. Actron sells many more productions that are less than $100 and get splendid brushups while Genus Equus offers more expensive tools that are stock still top rated by experts and vehicle possessors. Which one is veracious for you? It genuinely depends on what type of info you are looking to get from your cable cars computer system. Many proprietors intromit they bought one of these symptomatic computer code lectors justly before they had to take their vehicle down for an emissions test. In many states you can't get a smog run (or similar) done if your cheque railway locomotive igniter is on.
There are great deal of meter readings these tools can give you and some may be offering too much info for what you want. Equus 3130 Innova Diagnostic Code Scanner with Live Record and Playback Data Capability for OBDII Vehicles Review

Please see the note at the end of my review to learn about a potential problem with this scanner that I discovered after I originally posted this review).
I just received the scanner yesterday so I haven't been able to use it extensively yet but my first impressions are very positive. It is well constructed and a bit larger than it appeared to me in pictures and videos. The cables are very high-quality and the screen is large, clear, and bright. Although I have done virtually all of my own car repairs since the late 1960s, I simply have not had a real need for a code scanner. Contrary to popular myth, I never found modern cars to be difficult to work on at all. In fact, they are easier to work on in many ways. However, when problems involve electronics, a car's on-board computer system, sensors, etc., special tools are needed for efficient diagnosis. Fortunately, I have never had a problem that I couldn't fix without the use of a scanner although I have pulsed out a code or two using a paper clip in the past. I have found the electronics to be extremely dependable on modern cars. That said, the MIL (Check Engine) light went on last week and that's when I decided that it was time to get a scanner. However, I cleared the code by momentarily disconnecting the battery and the MIL light has not come back on so it must have been a fluke. (I hadn't decided to buy a scanner at that point; if I had, I would not have cleared the code and I could have read it when I did get the scanner.)
This Equus 3130 Innova Scanner has rather advanced features that may only be useful for experienced mechanics like myself. For that reason, I would suggest that someone buy a simpler scanner if all they want to do is retrieve the trouble codes (DTCs). Once you know the code, it's a simple matter to research it on the Internet or using the shop service manual. In fact, you will need the service manual to do more specific diagnosis in many cases even with the scanner. (I buy a factory service manual for every car I own.) But someone who does not do their own repairs is unlikely to have the expensive service manuals anyway. Again, if you just want to retrieve DTCs for further research into the problem or to give to a shop that will do the actual repair(s), you would do well to buy a simpler and less expensive scanner because you will almost certainly never need and may not even understand some of the information this scanner can retrieve. Also, with a simpler scanner, you won't have to worry about all the other features that this scanner has that can be confusing if you don't use them frequently. Very simple scanners require no manual at all but give you the most important info that you need - the DTCs.
The manual is well written but has a lot of information so you will have to refer to it if you only use the scanner occasionally or when using more advanced features. I would suggest that you download the PDF version of the manual from the manufacturer's site to keep just in case you lose the hard copy manual. In fact, I download the manual for all things that I buy that require a manual and that has come in very handy.
In actual use, the equus 3130 innova diagnostic code scanner is very easy to use once you understand it's operation although you will probably forget some of the more advanced procedures. I plugged it in and pressed the correct button and, in a few seconds, it told me that no DTCs were present. I then played around with live data, etc., and it worked very well. If you are just reading DTCs, it is very easy to use but then you really don't need a scanner with this many features.
The case that comes with the unit is a very nice soft case although it would have been better if it came with a blow-molded case that allowed you to store the cables in another compartment so the connectors don't scratch the scanner. But that's a small point. Again, the soft case is very nice.
I only have a couple very minor complaints so far and one of them has nothing to do with the tool itself. I used Amazon's free shipping option and, to my delight, the scanner arrived much sooner than their system said it would be delivered. I received it in three or four days. However, the packing wasn't ideal. The scanner itself comes in a very nice box that I almost hate to throw away but it was placed in a larger shipping box with no packing material in it so the inner box could bounce around in the outer box. That's not good for electronic devices, of course. Fortunately , no damage was done. My other complaint is one that others have mentioned in their reviews - that is, that the scanner comes with an archaic parallel connector on the PC end of the PC cable. Luckily, I happen to have a parallel port on my old PC but many people don't. Of course, you can buy a parallel to USB adapter cable but it's unfortunate that the scanner doesn't have a USB cable or at least include the adapter cable with the scanner. On the other hand, you may not want to connect it to your PC anyway. I did load up the software that comes with the scanner and it appears that it may be helpful but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to get good service from the scanner. That brings me to one last point: I have read in other reviews that you can get firmware updates from the manufacturer's site when the scanner is connected to your PC but I have been unable to find anything about those updates on the website. I do, however, see that I can upgrade the tool so it reads some ABS codes but that's another thing. At this point, I'm not sure if you can get non-ABS updates or not. I will contact the manufacturer about that. It would make sense to be able to get such updates, though, because I would imagine that new cars may have new manufacturer specific codes from time to time and the scanner should "know" about those codes.
All-in-all, I think it's a fine tool that will be of most value to the professional or experienced home mechanic. It won't do what extremely expensive scanners will do but it will do more than most people will require. It seems to be a very good value for someone like myself and that's why I chose it after researching many different scanners.
NOTE: I am adding this note several weeks after my original review because I found a problem with the equus scan tool which other owners should be aware of and also because of what I believe to be poor customer support from the manufacturer. The button (green) that turns the scanner on and off is supposed to have to be pressed for several seconds to turn it on. That makes sense because that would help to prevent turning it on by accident. However, the button turns on instantly at the slightest touch and it is not recessed into the housing to prevent it being accidentally turned on. That's a problem because it can (and will) be turned on just from handling the soft case normally. It really does turn on inadvertently too. Even if you put the scanner face down in the case, it may still turn on just from the button touching the back of the case. It did for me. I don't know if this is a defect with my specific scanner or not but you may want to check yours out. I found my scanner turned on in the case several times after I had zipped it up and opened it again. For that reason, I'm going to store it with the batteries removed. One other thing that may be of interest to potential buyers of this product: I filled out the proper online technical support form at the manufacturer's website to ask about the button problem and also to ask if there are firmware updates available for the scanner (I do have their software installed on my PC.) I know there is an Anti-lock brake UPGRADE available, but some of the material at the manufacturer's website and also in reviews here suggest that you may be able to download firmware updates to the tool as well. However, I couldn't find any option to do that at the website so I asked technical support if firmware updates are available and, if so, how I would get them. Unfortunately, they never bothered to respond to my questions. In fact, they didn't even bother to acknowledge receiving them even though I filled out the proper online technical support form. For that reason, and also because of the button problem, I have changed my rating from five stars to four stars. It's not a good sign when a company does not bother to respond to customers.

So far the Frigidaire Dehumidifier it is working great

I have a large/long house (footprint ~ 34'-110') with two levels. In the 22 years since its construction, the ~60%-bermed basement RH has increased slightly every summer but I have experienced no issues with liquid water. I have always been able to use the relatively-stable Cool of the basement to help reduce the summer warmth upstairs by placing a box fan in the doorway of the south stairwell and keeping the door on the north stairwell open.
A few weeks ago the sensor located in the basement told me that 70%RH had been reached and the upstairs was at ~60%. So, after reading the reviews on this and several other units, I bought one of these units. I received it 3 days ago and set it up immediately.
Configured for Continuous Mode (so far), after bedtime the Dehumidifier fad704tdp runs in the basement, alone, (with all of the interior basement doors open) and during the day I resume the box fan airflow that I described with the DH still running in the air stream.
I just checked ... the basement RH is currently at 57% and the upstairs, 53%.
I realize that fad704tdp part of this reduction in RH is related to the little bit of heat added to the environment by the DH, but every 6½-7hours the "bucket" fills and cuts off the system, I empty & replace it and off it goes again. This DH *really* sucks ... the moisture out of the air!
I have experienced no issues with "bucket" removal/replacement ... it easily pops out and back in for me. The sound that the unit makes is about what I expected for a unit such as this pushing a steady stream of air thru its innards. Actually, I am surprised that it is NOT loud. I would have no trouble sleeping in a room with this DH running ... it is only white noise, after all.
I really like this frigidaire dehumidifier fad704tdp!

IMPORTANT INFO REGARDING AR North America (ar383) Pressure Washer

I bought this pressure washer based upon the reviews on Amazon. SEVERAL people indicated that the unit had a leak where the hoses connect and recommended that you buy a "male to male" hose connector. Well, when I bought this unit, I purchased the connector and when I received the Pressure washer, I found it was no longer necessary to use the connector because AR North America  had fixed the problem and had enclosed a better made connector (made out of clear plastic). I called them and got confirmation that they had fixed the problem and had inclosed a new connector thus eliminating the need to buy an extra "male to male" connector. So if you go foward and buy this unit, dont buy the extra connector that reviewers are recommending..It is no longer necessary.
PS: Unfortunately AR North America ar383 DID NOT UPDATE the instruction manual to include the new pieces...therefore you'll find yourself up a creek when you begin installing this unit. I called them and they straightened me out (and told me that they're getting this type of call alot). When installing this Pressure washer, you will have a clear plastic filter piece which gets plugged into the front of the ar383.Then install the blue piece (which has a black ending) into the other end of the clear plastic piece. Then plug your garden hose into the black ending. This is the order it needs to go in in order for it to work correctly.
(and sorry... I'm not good at giving directions).
I have not had the opportunity to try the unit but will do so shortly and will report back asap...but I wanted to give you this review now...so that you dont accidently buy the Male to male hose connector piece that all the reviewers are recommending. It is no longer necessary...wanted to save you the expense.

I had the opportunity to test this unit and it works like a dream. Definitely no leaks anywhere. I was able to pressure wash my entire pool and patio area with little effort. It is a powerful little machine and definitely gets the job done.
I was a little worried about operating a machine which works with electricty and water but I found out after a few minutes that there was no need to worry at all. All cords/lines are well insulated. When I used the unit, the electrical cord did get wet and there were no issues. I wouldnt recommend you go dipping it in a pool but getting the electrical cord wet was not an issue. It worked just fine.
I would recommend this unit for residentual use only. At 1900 PSI, its not strong enough to do commerical...just use it for stuff around the house. I would definitely recommend this ar383 power washer. It is powerful and good for residentual use.
